There’s something extra magical about winter weddings—and Holly and Thomas’ December celebration at Woodsome Hall Golf Club had all the festive feels. From a heartfelt ceremony at St Lucius’ Church in Huddersfield to a dance floor that didn’t stop all night, this wedding was joyful, cosy, and full of personality.
As a Huddersfield wedding photographer, this one had everything I love to capture: real emotions, beautiful light, and a couple who knew how to party.
A Laid-Back Love Story With a Playful Twist
Holly and Thomas are the kind of couple who bring the fun wherever they go. They didn’t want anything too traditional or overly posed-just a relaxed celebration with their people, their way. From the start, their vision was all about joy, warmth, and plenty of dancing.
They handcrafted much of the decor themselves, adding a heartfelt, personal touch to the day. Think rustic winter charm meets festive sparkle-with a totally chill, “let’s just have the best time” vibe.
A Ceremony Full of Love at St Lucius’ Church, Huddersfield
Set against the backdrop of historic St Lucius’ Church, the ceremony was filled with laughter, happy tears, and one very gorgeous confetti moment. We were lucky with the weather too-one of those crisp, golden winter days where everything just feels right. After saying “I do,” Holly and Thomas were showered with confetti outside the church, surrounded by smiles, hugs, and pure excitement. A real highlight and such a classic moment to photograph.
Reception Magic at Woodsome Hall Golf Club
The celebration continued at the stunning Woodsome Hall Golf Club, one of my favourite local venues as a Huddersfield wedding photographer. With its character-filled interiors and countryside views, it’s the perfect spot for a cosy winter wedding. Holly and Thomas made the venue their own with homemade festive decorations, setting a warm and welcoming tone. As night fell, guests lit sparklers outside—always a dreamy photo op—and then headed in for an evening of nonstop dancing, singing, and celebrating. And when I say the dance floor was wild… I mean it. These two and their crew really know how to throw a party!

Photographing this wedding was an absolute joy. Holly and Thomas brought such an easy going energy to the day, which made it so natural to document. From candid giggles to emotional hugs and everything in between, my goal was to preserve the realness of it all.
